1️⃣ Prepare Soil And Seeds
  • Choose loose, well-draining soil. You can mix soil with sand and coconut coir to improve aeration.
  • If planting in a pot, use one with drainage holes to prevent root rot.
  • Portulaca seeds are very small, so soak them in warm water for 4-6 hours before planting to boost germination.
2️⃣ Sowing the Seeds
  • Sprinkle the seeds evenly on the soil surface. Do not bury them deep, as they need light to germinate.
  • Cover lightly with a thin layer of soil or straw to retain moisture.
  • Use a spray bottle to mist the soil gently, avoiding strong watering that could wash away the seeds.
3️⃣ Care For Seedlings
  • Place the pot or seedbed in a spot with gentle morning sunlight. The ideal temperature is 22-30°C.
  • Water once a day in the early morning or late afternoon, keeping the soil moist but not too wet to prevent fungal diseases.
  • When seedlings reach 5-7 cm tall, thin out weaker plants to allow stronger ones to grow better.
4️⃣ Encourage Full Bloom
  • In 6-8 weeks, your Portulaca will bloom daily around 10 AM, filling your space with vibrant colors.
